Dosage information

18 TO 65 YEARS OLD
Prevention of nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy:
• Highly emetogenic chemotherapy, e.g. cisplatin.
Initially PREZINTON may be given as a slow IV injection of 8 mg single dose or 15 minutes infusion of 8 mg immediately before chemotherapy. The alternative dose of ondansetron may be administered as a slow IV or IM injection of 8 mg immediately before chemotherapy, followed by two further IV or IM doses of 8 mg 2 to 4 hours apart, or by a constant infusion of 1 mg/hour for up to 24 hours. Either regimen is then followed by 8 mg orally 12 hourly for up to 5 days.

• Less emetogenic chemotherapy, e.g. cyclophosphamide.
PREZINTON 8 mg may be administered as a slow IV or IM injection or 15 minutes infusion of 8 mg immediately before chemotherapy, followed by 8 mg orally, twice daily for less than 5 days.

Prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting:
The recommended dose of ondansetron injection is a single dose of 4 mg may be given as a slow IV or IM injection.

4 TO 18 YEARS OLD
Prevention of nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy:
• PREZINTON may be administered as a single IV dose of 5 mg/m2 body area (0.15 mg/kg) for 15 minutes immediately prior to chemotherapy, ) followed by 4 mg orally every 12 hours for less than 5 days.

Prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting:
The recommended dose of ondansetron injection is a single dose of 4 mg may be given as a slow IV or IM injection.

0 TO 2 YEARS OLD
PREZINTON should not be used

Prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting:

65 YEARS OLD AND ABOVE
Ondansetron is well tolerated in patients over 65 years without dosage adjustment, frequency and method of administration.

IMPAIRED HEPATIC FUNCTION
In such patients a total daily dose of 8 mg ondansetron should not be exceeded.
